When you open up the calendar editor, you will see a dialogue that says "Select the basic design for your calendar". This basic design is a template which can be used to fill all your calendar pages. All pages (except title page) receive the same design. The basic designs are now divided into three windows with thumbnails of the calendars: Customisable calendars, standard calendars and premium design calendars. "Customisable calendars" can be individually designed in the editor, but will need a bit more time and effort. Standard and premium design calendars can only be edited slightly, if at all. You can only select a different version of the basic design with more photos and (if available) a different colour combination. However, the calendar style itself can not be edited or changed. It is therefore very quick and easy to create a visually appealing calendar. Double-click on a thumbnail and the relevant template will load to the calendar pages in the editor and the dialogue will close.
Creative means:
A design calendar is specified but only minimal changes can be made. In the "multicolour" designs you can choose from several colour versions.
These design calendars have been customised extensively by professional graphic design agencies, which of course leads to the additional costs. Therefore, a moderate design surcharge is charged for a calendar. The amount is shown in the calendar preview. This design surcharge is not due until an order is placed.
Unfortunately there is no Assistant for calendar design.
Click on "Product Specifications" (in the bottom right corner of the software or the icon in the toolbar) to set what year and month the calendar should start. The calendar always comprises 12 months, starting with the set month.
This only works for "MULTICOLOUR" calendars. In the selection area in the "Designs" section, you can set the colour of your calendar design. There you will also find design variations with a different division and number of photos and text boxes.
If you double-click on the calendar (the table with the days), the date or the month name in the calendar editor, a window will open up with additional calendar settings. First, you select from lots of preset colour schemes for the backgrounds, lines and texts of the calendar. Secondly, you can set the font type for all texts and numbers on the calendar pages. Finally, you set the font size. Because the font sizes of the different text objects can differ, the font size is entered as a percentage of the original font size (in increments of ten), so that all letters and numbers are scaled evenly. Please make sure that long weekday names do not extend beyond their cell and overlap other weekdays. The effects of the changes in the calendar can be tracked in a preview. If the "For calendars of the same type" option is activated (checked), the settings are incorporated in the calendar editor for all calendar pages (months) which have the same calendar. You can also change the date and month name in this way. If you use the same settings for the calendar, month name and date, they will go well together. However, you can choose not to, if you like the result.
Only for customisable calendars. In the calendar editor work area, you can customise your calendar pages and add photos from the selection area. You can even create a page layout with placeholders and texts and save it as a custom page layout. Or you can use a page layout template.
In the product specifications ("General" toolbar or in the bottom right of the software), you can set the region and choose whether to display holidays and vacations.
|
Not all calendars are suitable for this or offer this option. Please check whether the public holiday texts run into the next day. If they do, you should reduce the size of the font, choose a more suitable calendar or decide not to display public holidays. Please be careful when setting the region. Bank holidays often differ between regions. |
You can personalise your calendar by adding your own dates and events. To do this, open the product specifications (button at the bottom right or in the "General" toolbar). In the dialogue "Product Specifications", click on the "My entries" button. You can now specify a name, a date, and even a photo that will be displayed in the calendar. In addition, you can specify whether it is a recurring annual date, such as a birthday.
|
Caution: Your personal entries can only be used on suitable calendars. This means they are only displayed if the space available for them and they are supported by the design/calendar style. If there is not enough space for the photo, then only the name will be shown. If no space is available, no entries will be shown. You can then select a different layout that offers enough space or a suitable design. |
For some creative calendars, such as the kitchen and family calendars, you can add columns in the calendar. You can then enter the names of your family members in the column headers, so that each family member has their own area for notes and appointments. The first header line contains the name of the first column, the second header line contains the name of the second column, and so on.
|
Tip: If you have an appointment calendar displaying bank holidays, enter one more column than you actually need, and leave the first column without a heading. Otherwise it is possible the bank holiday entries may take up the space for entering notes in the first column. |
This is only possible in creative calendars. You can choose a different calendar style by choosing a new page layout. To do this, click the layout directory in the top left and select the corresponding layout, dragging it to a page in the workspace. The page layout can now be edited. Use the new calendar and arrange your photos individually on your page.
|
Tip: Save your new page layouts. This will save time when producing additional calendars or calendar pages. |
In the editor, you will find the "Basic design change" button under "Designs" or "Page Layouts". This re-opens the "Select the basic design for your calendar" dialogue and you can choose a different basic design.
|
Caution: If you change the basic design, you will lose all the design steps you have carried out so far and will start again with an empty calendar. |
Depending on the selected format, a calendar can be ordered as a digital print paper calendar or as a calendar on photo paper.Digital printing is a calendar comprising printed pages. In high-quality digital printing, each individual page is printed and then compiled to make up the calendar. The calendar with photo paper consists of individually exposed photographs. The photo paper is a glossy digital print paper which reproduces your photos brilliantly.
Click the "Save As" button in the toolbar. A dialogue opens and you now specify the save location and file name for the calendar.
Inserted photos can be edited using the PHOTOSHOW. To do so, with the left mouse button double-click the photo to be edited. The Photoshow opens and the various editing tools are available.
Individual pages on the calendar can be swapped as follows: Click on a page in the page selection area. Hold down the left mouse button and move the selected page. When a page is dragged to a new position, the individual month names are changed in order to keep them in the correct order.
